People/Entertainment Weekly Network gave Survivor ‘superfans’ a new way to join the conversation around their favorite castaways from Season 34 of Survivor. Starting on March 8th, PEN’s ‘Fan Forum: Survivor’ live studio audience show aired weekly up until the finale on May 24th. This unique, participatory show covered the latest plot twists and surprises from Survivor: Game Changers, with authetic fan integration – Burst!
Andrea Boehlke, veteran Survivor and a current season contestant, was joined each week by a new panel of Survivor “fanatics,” past season contestants and Dalton Ross, the Executive Editor At Large at Entertainment Weekly. The conversation throughout the live stream was driven by Survivor ‘superfans’ who submitted questions and reactions to burst.com/survivor. This new community of fans would tune in weekly to see their videos featured on the show and have their questions answered by Andrea and the panel. See highlights in the video below!
In addition to mentions on the live stream, promotion of the Burst submission URL took place across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Viewers were able to tune in to the Fan Forum each week via People/Entertainment Weekly Network, Facebook Live, Periscope and YouTube. The best part about this whole effort? PEN was able to build a captivated audience who continued to come back and submit videos each week via Burst, while creatively integrating Burst videos from Andrea’s family, previous Survivor contestants and friends/family members of current season contestants. Overall, PEN received over 300 videos throughout this 12 week series. Collectively, PEN & Burst were able to change the game of UGC, and provide Survivor fans with a new way to engage around their favorite show.
